One of the things I’ve really enjoyed about having my own YouTube channel is the people who I’ve met through it.
One of the reasons I started my channel was in fact just to share my own experiences and what I’ve learnt so that hopefully others could learn.
When I first started out in the industry, I didn’t have any contacts. I wasn’t a particularly savvy person when it came to talking the talk and to this day it’s something I struggle with in certain environments.
I didn’t have a support network or a mentor I could reach out to. Don’t get me wrong, I tried to do these things but I found it to be a clickey industry at the time and well, a lot of emails went out but non answered.
Being female in the industry at the time was also challenging. It totally was a male dominated industry back then and I’ve had my fair share of derogatory comments whilst out on the job – especially in the photo pit.
But I kept my head down and continued to photograph what made me happy and kept honing my skills and I hope to carry on doing this for as long as possible.
It makes me even more thankful for the opportunities I’ve had and the amazing clients I’ve been able to work with – it hasn’t come easy to me and ya girl has worked for it!
Boston came across the YouTube channel a while back and we had left comments back and forth here and there. Fast forward to 2020 and lockdown happened (oh.my.god 2020, what is this year all about) and Boston reached out to see whether I’d be up for a chat on her Podcast.
Wellll I love to talk about business, photography and music so of course I jumped at the chance and said yes!
We connected over a zoom call a few weeks ago and it was great to finally speak with her in real life.
You can check out the session over on the Taking Over the Photo Pit podcast in a few different places.

Thank you Boston for creating an awesome safe space for female photographers to be able to connect and learn from one another and massive thanks for having me be a part of it!
