If you’re a fan of Black Veil Brides, you’ll know that their live shows are an intense experience!
The energy, the music, and the theatricality all come together to create a truly unforgettable performance.
As a music photographer, I had the opportunity to capture the excitement of the band’s recent Manchester Academy show through my lens. It’s been a while since I last photographed them so this was great!
In this blog post, I’ll share my perspective on the concert and offer some tips for anyone interested in music photography. Specifically, I’ll be focusing on the Black Veil Brides Manchester Academy show.
Getting Started with Manchester Music Photography
If you’re interested in music photography, Manchester is a great place to be. The city has a rich musical history, and there are always concerts and shows happening at venues like the Manchester Arena, O2 Apollo Manchester, and Manchester Academy.
To get started with music photography in Manchester, you’ll need to have the right gear.
I recommend a DSLR camera with a fast lens (such as a 50mm f/1.8 – this is a staple lens in my bag!) and a high ISO capability. You’ll also need to be familiar with your camera’s settings and know how to shoot in low light.
Capturing Black Veil Brides at Manchester Academy
When it comes to photographing Black Veil Brides, the key is to capture the band’s energy and theatricality. The band members are known for their elaborate costumes and makeup, so make sure to get plenty of close-up shots that showcase their unique style.Remember – You only get 3 songs if you’re lucky – We had access to only 2 shows this show!
During the Manchester Academy show, the band played a mix of old favorites and new songs from their latest album. The crowd was electric, and there was a real sense of excitement in the air. To capture the energy of the show, I used a combination of wide-angle shots to show the entire stage, as well as close-up shots of the band members.
Tips for Great Manchester Music Photography
Whether you’re shooting Black Veil Brides or any other band in Manchester or further afield, there are some general tips you can follow to improve your photos:
- Use a fast lens to capture sharp images in low light.
- Set your ISO high enough to get a fast enough shutter speed to freeze motion.
- Shoot in RAW to have more flexibility in post-processing.
- Try to capture the atmosphere of the concert through your images, including the lighting, crowd, and overall energy.
