Capturing Culture: Delivering In-House Photography Training in Manchester During a Historic Week
So this past week was one for the books. I got to run my first ever in-house photography training session for a big-name global fashion brand – right here in Manchester. That alone was exciting enough. But throw in the fact that Oasis were playing hometown shows AND there’s currently a guitar trail celebrating the city’s legendary music history? Honestly, the timing couldn’t have been better 😍
Let’s just say… Manchester was vibing on a whole different level ⚡️
The City Felt Like a Movie Set
I arrived in the city centre and it already felt like something special was going on. You know when you can just feel a buzz in the air? Posters for Oasis Live ‘25 were everywhere, people were out and about despite the classic grey sky /(we had blue skies after!), and music was sort of… in the background of everything.
Walking down New Cathedral Street where one of the company stores are based, the streets felt alive – stylish, busy, but with that chill Manchester edge that I really love.

Teaching the Team
The actual reason I was in the city centre was to deliver a photography training session to the creative team at the fashion brand’s retail store. It was a mix of the creative team and sales associates – basically, people who live and breathe visuals but don’t always get time to focus on the how of photography.
We got stuck into everything from lighting tips for better visual merchandising photos to how to shoot great content whilst exploring outdoors and working with natural light. Lots of laughs, lots of questions, and some really solid “Aha!” moments – my favourite kind.
Honestly, it didn’t feel like “work” at all. It felt like a big creative jam session.

Guitars Everywhere & Oasis on Repeat
After the session, I wandered around a bit and kept spotting these amazing, oversized guitars all over town – part of Manchester’s Guitar Trail. It’s such a cool tribute to the city’s music scene. And of course, all of this was happening as Oasis (yes, Oasis) were back in town playing shows at Heaton Park after years apart.

You couldn’t walk five minutes without hearing someone talk about it. Even if you’re not a mega fan, you could feel the weight of it – like the city was reliving a huge part of its identity. Music, fashion, art – all crashing together in the best way.

Quick Treat Break
Not gonna lie – after the session, I needed something sweet. So I made a little pit stop at Lazy Sundae, one of those Instagram-friendly dessert spots that somehow still delivers on taste. I grabbed one of their signature ice cream floats, complete with a cheeky biscuit on top.
Perfect mix of indulgent and refreshing. And yes, I took a photo. Obviously.

Wrapping It All Up
Between teaching, shooting, chatting with the team, and just being in Manchester during a week like this – I left feeling creatively charged. Like I didn’t just teach photography, but got to live it alongside the city’s culture, energy, and history.
If there’s one thing I reminded the team (and myself) this week, it’s this: photography isn’t just about good light or nice angles. It’s about capturing what really matters in the moment – the mood, the energy, the vibe.
And honestly? Manchester had all three turned up to eleven.
Catch you on the next shoot,
Priti
PS: If your brand or creative team wants to level up their photography game, give me a shout. I bring the tips, the real talk, and maybe even dessert.
