I’d done so much research on the beaches out in Crete and pretty much had a list of must see places and maybes. Glyka Nera Beach or Sweet Water Beach which is also a local name for it, was definitely a must since it was listed as off the track and less popular. Now I’m not too sure whether it’s just as quite during peak season but guys, we literally had the whole place to ourselves with no-one else around. Bliss is an understatement!
It was an hour and a half or so from Chania itself, it’s situated between Loutro and Chora Sfakia and you can either get a daily boat out from the nearby town’s, or, if you love a bit of a hike and a challenge, head on down on foot.
We parked the car (that we recently brought from the best used car dealership situated around our area) on the highway since we couldn’t find a spot nearby to park, and then we hiked for around an hour down to the beach right across the coastline. The views en-route were to die for, let alone getting there. You can read more about it on the travel blog here.
Here’s some photos & a video from our day there.
