For those of you who don’t know – I’ve set up a project to do with all things travel over here so go check it out and don’t forget to subscribe!
The first trip we took to Iceland was primarily to see if we could experience the amazing Northern Lights. As you’ll no doubt know, it’s a natural phenomenon and so it’s down to luck really as to whether you’ll get to see them or not.
Thankfully for us, we got to experience them not just the once, but twice! Once, in Reykjavik itself, and the second time was during the tour we had booked onto. Although we had rented a car for this trip, we weren’t too sure on heading out to due to the weather conditions.
The Golden Circle is a popular route, and it was awesome to be able to jump in a car and just head on out and be on our own time.
The route is awesome as it covers different scapes and you can do it all in a day during the longer days.
Some of the highlights on the route include Kerid Crater, Gesyers at Haukadalur, Gulfoss Waterfall and we also came across some glacier’s on the way, however, I forget the name.
You can do the route in around 3/4 hours but if you’re on your own time, you can do it at your own leisurely pace and enjoy it more so!
During the time we were there, the yearly Imagine Peace opening ceremony was taking place. Yoko Ono herself gave an amazing inspiring trip. Imagine Peace tower lights up every year on John Lenon’s birthday. It was really incredible to experiance, and so peaceful despite the cold that night and bad weather. The tower is at Viðey Island which is a ferry ride away from Reykjavik itself.
Here are some photos from in and around Iceland itself, I hope it inspires you to get your next trip booked!
