So back on the trip we took to Iceland in 2015 – I went with my now hubby. I really wanted to head back on out there last year in 2016 and so my good friend, Emma, and I went ahead and booked a trip. At first it was meant to be ‘ok a couple days in Iceland, hopefully catch the northern lights again’ and doing the usual stuff like the Golden Circle route – but then there was a few things I really wanted to do on the previous trip and next trip and Emma was keen as.
After doing some research and Emma getting all excited about the trip, we ended up blowing our budget and going all full on out for this trip – I would say OOPS but forget it – It was such an amazing time I just don’t even care!
One of the things both of us wanted to do was visit Blue Lagoon on this trip.
I’m not normally the one for touristy type things but you know what – I loved it and totally would recommend it if you guys and gals are thinking of visiting Blue Lagoon on your trip too. Having been to more natural thermal spa’s in New Zealand – I had something to compare it to. I did much prefer the ones in New Zealand as, well, they are way more natural and way less touristy and not to mention we only payed like $18 per person with a private tub too but Blue Lagoon is still an awesome experience and heaps of fun.
Here’s some photos from our time there & some footage filmed on the GoPro.

We visited at the back end of the November and so the weather was bound to be super cold – Snow had been forecasted also. This is one of the reasons why we decided against a car hire on this trip – but if you are going in warmer months – it can work out cheaper to car hire instead. We usually hire a car, like when we were cruising across Australia a few months ago, we used a Perth car hire service to get a well-maintained car at low costs. To be honest – I really wanted to see it snow! And we sort of did. More on that on a separate post about the Ice Caves.
We ended up booking Blue Lagoon along with the Viking Horse Riding via Grayline. One of the great things about booking via Grayline is that they run 10% flash sales quite frequently and as we ended up doing a lot of tours, we saved quite a lot of money by using the promotion code over Halloween. If you know you will be going for sure – it’s worth looking into.
If you are wondering whether the water is really that milky white bluey – YES it totally is – you really want to drink it…but don’t. I got some in my glass of wine and it’s GRIM. haha.
I’m going to leave you with some photos and hopefully inspire you in some way to book your next adventure!
